The activities are aiming to developing technologies for synthesis and thermo-mechanical processing of the new TiZrNbTa alloy and its surface functionalisation by coating with  low wear multicomponent carbonitrides (TiZrCN, ZrNbCN, TiNbAgCN) and doped HAP osseoconductive coatings (SiC-HAP, SiC-Ag-HAP).

  • Validation by in-vitro and in-vivo tests of the technological chain (lab. S-TM-P and SF-PVD technologies) for the new TA implant biomaterial manufacturing.
  • Test lot 2 of Ti-10Nb-10Zr-5Ta using S-TM-P technologies
  • Chemical and structural characterization of Test lot 2 of Ti-10Nb-10Zr-5Ta bioalloy
  • Coating of the test lot 2 bioalloy, using the lab SF-PVD technologies for d-HAP & L3 coatings.
  • d-HAP & L3  coatings for structure (XRD), composition (EDS, Auger electron spectrocopy), surface energy and hydrophobicity, corrosion (EIS) and tribo-corrosion in SBF
  • In vitro tests on cell viability and proliferation, adhesion and osteoblast morphology, cell differentiation, matrix mineralization on: uncoated and coated (osseoconductive d-HAP, and low friction L3) samples.
  • Fabrication of implants for in-vivo tests using the S-TM-P bioalloy.
